Efter 2 års ombygning kunne destilleriet endelig i 1949 producere den sprit, som mange år senere skulle blive til Tullibardine Distillery Highland Scotch Single Malt. I 1953 blev destilleriet igen solgt, da ejeren Mr. Evans på grund af dårligt helbred ikke længere var i stand til at drive destilleriet. Mr. Evans brugte i stedet tiden på at designe Jura og Glenallachie destillerierne, men forblev tro mod Tullibardine, hvor han stadig var ansvarlig for det endelige produkt frem til 1994, hvor den nye ejer Brodie Hepburn, besluttede sig til at lægge Tullibardine Distillery i mølposen. Det er siden blev glemt, ja man er faktisk ikke helt sikker på dets placering, men med det ”nye” destilleri er det ikke til at tage fejl. Det er nemlig bygget på en grund, hvor der tidligere har stået et bryggeri, et bryggeri som endda skulle have produceret en speciel aftapning i forbindelse med Kong James d. Til destilleriets opførelse blev brugt mure og sten fra det gamle bryggeri på stedet. Delmé-Evans var selv med til at køre destilleriet de første år, iøvrigt sammen med en pensioneret tolder, men det viste sig hurtigt at de ikke havde den økonomiske formåen til at drive det, og da Delmé-Evans blev syg valgte han at sælge Tullibardine. Barret, som chef for destilleriet. I 1971 trådte Invergordon Distillers til, som sidenhen blev overtaget af Whyte & Mackay (I 1993). Udstyret forblev på stedet efter lukningen, så chancen for at produktionen ville blive genoptaget var længe til stede – en dag mødte nogle forretningsmænd op, og kom på en god idé. Den første var at genstarte destilleriet, og begynde nogle spændende aftapninger. Den næste var at lave et butikstorv, så ferierende på vej nordpå til Højlandet ville have interesse i at stoppe. Den ældste sprit fra genåbningen er snart klar til aftapning, men otte år er stadig for ungt, selv om den unge sprit er alen bedre end den gamle. For at være helt ærlig, så har Whyte & Mackay aldrig været tynget af at være de bedste på råspritsiden – en fantastisk beskrivelse af Tullibardine fra før lukningen er, at ”alle aftapninger har noget levertran over sig”. Selv om det ikke er levertran, så er det nok diplomatisk at sige at det var et meget tungt destillat man valgte at lægge på fade – tungheden, der beskrives bedst på whiskysprog som ”feints” (tungt og svovlagtigt) var et gennemgående træk hos Jura, Tullibardine og Fettercairn. Tullibardine har tacklet dette ved at lave en række fadafslutninger, hvor der kommer fadpræg nok til at overdøve, i mange tilfælde, de gamle destillatørers besparelser. Så få fat på noget enten meget gammelt Tullibardine, noget der er blevet afsluttet på andre fade eller noget af det unge.
